Mr. Victor Lawrence

Mr. Victor Lawrence, 75, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Sunday, January 3, 2016 following a period of illness. He was born to the late Charles William Lawrence and Clara Beatrice Beckham Lawrence in Chester, SC on December 6, 1940.

Mr. Lawrence began his early childhood education in the public schools of Charlotte/Mecklenburg until the family moved to Winston-Salem, NC. He then attended and graduated from Atkins High School in the class of 1958. Following graduation he enrolled at NC A & T State University earning a degree in Automotive Mechanics in 1961.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years and faithfully served with the Trustee, Chapel Choir and Boy Scout ministries of the church.

Mr. Lawrence was employed by and retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 30 years of dedicated service to the company. He was an avid golfer, member of the Winston-Salem Sportsman’s Club and a super fan of the Washington Redskins and Carolina Panthers Football Teams. He was also a very active participant with the Parkinson Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles W. Lawrence, Jr. Survivors include Loretta West Lawrence, his devoted wife of 54 years; sons Christopher (Tanya) Lawrence and Terry (Ingrid) Lawrence; daughter, Karon L. (Michael) Robinson; grandchildren, Chelsie Lawrence, Kara Lawrence, Mason Lawrence, Asya Robinson, Indya Robinson and Michael Robinson, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Alyce Graham and F. Jean Lawrence; niece, LaTarsha Lawrence; nephew, Alan Graham; several extended family members and special friends.

A funeral service will be held at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 1pm. Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church, at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The National Parkinson Foundation or Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
