On Monday morning September 17, 2018, our Lord called Willie Pearce Martin to his eternal home. Mr. Martin was born on October 7, 1938, in Livingston, Alabama to the late Abner Pearce Martin and Annie Bibbs Martin. Mr. Martin was raised in Bessemer, Alabama and received his high school diploma from the local school. He received an honorable discharge from the US Army. He later moved to Buffalo, NY and met his lovely wife of 57 years, Patty Lash Martin. Mr. Martin loved to drive big vehicles, therefore he loaded up the truck and moved his family to his wife's home in North Carolina. After the move, Mr. Martin was hired as a Bus driver for Greyhound. Willie later retired and continued driving big trucks and buses for various local companies until his health declined. Willie was a devoted member of Bethania A.M.E Zion Church. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife Patty Martin, four daughters: Karen Pratchett, Janet Martin (Juan) Cason, Amanda Martin, and Evangelist Toni Lowe; thirteen grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a sister, Mattie Pearl Marshall; two sisters-in- law; four aunts six uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives. Mr. Martin loved his family, his church, his community, and his extended family at Hardee's in Rural Hall. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Bethania AME Zion Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery.
