William Henry "Bill" Lynch, III was born May 13, 1956 in Forsyth County to the late William Henry Lynch, Jr. and the late Loretta Dolores McMillian Campbell.

In addition to his birth parents, he was preceded in death by his father; James Henry Campbell, brother; James "Jay" Campbell, and sister; Patricia Hairston.

Bill is survived by his partner Dr. Aileen Muhammad ; sons, Dr. Iyam Irie (Olivia) Lynch and Ishum "Ikey" Lorenz Lynch; grandsons, Campbell Isaac Lynch, and Luke Oliver Lynch; granddaughter, Lyanna Marie Lynch; brothers, Curtis Lewis Campbell, Henry Michael (Yvette) Campbell , and Ronald Dean Campbell; sisters, Tahnya Lynch Spirit, Stefani Jo Lynch, Crystal (Charles) Lindsey, Dorothy Mae Mock Hudspeth, and Danita Yvette Mitchell; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, close family and friends.

Bill was a multi-talented musician and composer who started playing music as a child. The first instruments he learned were the piano and drums. At the age of eleven he started playing saxophone while gradually learning (and later mastering) several other instruments. By the age of twenty-one Bill was playing string bass for the Catawba-Livingstone symphony orchestra and guitar for the jazz band at Livingstone College.

He graduated from Livingstone College in 1979 with a Bachelor's degree in music education with a minor in economics. Bill's original music was a universal blend of quality music compositions that touched the foundation of various styles of music which is brilliantly showcased in his magnum opus "Last Days" an album in which the title track received regional radio play. Beyond his professional music career Bill was also an educator and craftsman who specialized in traditional African ancestral wares. His objective in life was to spread harmony throughout the world by teaching and recording music as a communicative factor.

Bill was a loving father who enjoyed studying many topics which included: musical theory, philosophy, religion, and politics. He enjoyed and respected all aspects of nature. Above all, the one thing he loved more than music was his family. His family was his true pride and joy.
