William J. Ford, affectionately known to family and friends as "Fella", was born on December 4, 1952 in Wilson, NC to Ethel Mae McLaurin Ford Phifer and Wiley Ford. Fella departed this life on September 28, 2020. Fella graduated from Anderson High School in the city and was employed at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 20 plus years.

Fella was a great family man and had a strong personality. He exuded quiet strength. Fella attended Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church regularly with his special friend until her death. Fella was liked by many for his smile and wonderful attitude and disposition.

Fella was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mae McLaurin Ford Phifer, father Wiley Ford, sisters Brenda Ford and Sandra Phifer, brothers Walter Ford and Purcell Phifer, granddaughter, DeQuache Wall, and special friend, Gwendolyn Williamson.

Fella leaves to cherish his memories a devoted family that will miss him dearly: sons: William (Sonya) Wall, Jeltress Williamson, and Nathaniel Wall; stepsons: Roberto Williamson, Jerod Williamson and Laverne Baker; daughters, Demetrice (Carlos) Wall, Cassandra (Carleth) Flemming; brothers: James (Vickie) Ford, Anthony (Young) Ford, Buford Phifer, and Wayne Ford; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren;sisters: Betty (Tyrone) Phifer and Toni Ford; devoted and best friend, Annie Wall, devoted friend, Sandra Baker; devoted grandson, Demarcus Wall and devoted granddaughter, Tytiana Wall. Fella also leaves devoted nieces, Sandra Davis, Arneatha Phifer, and Angela Phifer and a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends.
