William Henry
Alexander Hunt
Jun 10, 1950 — May 23, 2022
William "Bubber" Henry Alexander Hunt was born on June 10, 1950, to the late Dr. James L. Hunt and the late Kathleen Moore Hunt. He was nicknamed when his brother James couldn't say "brother", thus "Bubber" was his name from then on. If you had met Bubber, you would never forget him! He was a resilient, hilarious, witty man who lived a vibrant life with confidence and courage. He transitioned to Heaven on May 23, 2022 in the presence of his loving family.
Bubber was born in Asheville, NC. His family moved often to follow his father's ministry. As a result, he was educated in Buncombe, McDowell, Burke, Rowan, and Forsyth Counties. Morganton, NC held a special place in his heart, as he made treasured friends and flourished as a football athlete. His athleticism continued at R.J. Reynolds High School where he graduated in 1968 with a football scholarship to Appalachian State University. He transferred to Winston-Salem State University where he pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Most of Bubber's professional life was spent at Bell South where he was a National Account Executive in Sales for over 25 years. Outside of work Bubber had a diverse appreciation for music and loved being around people. Whether it was inspiring young boys through coaching Pop Warner Football, traveling to Hilton Head Island for his annual golf trip with longtime friends, or being a great neighbor, Bubber brought joy through his unmatched humor and personality.
His most treasured times were with those who called him "Daddy" and"Grandaddy". He was a consistent and supportive father to LaShonda, Willonda, and Marc. He brought a dose of candid humor to every piece of advice he gave them, which he never held back in giving. He wanted to know about every detail of their lives and accomplished this through phone calls at any time of day. To his grandchildren, Kiya, Asha, Nare, Bryson, Bryan, Brandon, Esther, Leila, Kameron and Taylor, he was a Grandaddy who never failed to make them smile. He FaceTimed often, sent money in the middle of the night, and loved fearlessly. To them he was epic and to Bubber they were his motivation for living. As he prepared for end of life, it brought him comfort to know he could be a great angel in Heaven cheering them on from above
knowing they each are destined for greatness.
Bubber was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James L. Hunt and Kathleen Moore Hunt, and his grandparents. Those who are left with memories that will undoubtedly make them smile are his wife of 26 years, Brenda Reaves Hunt; his three children, LaShonda (Natrone) Means, Willonda (Eric) Thomas, and William Marcus (Shannon) Hunt; his ten grandchildren, Kiya, Asha, Bryson, Nare, Bryan, Brandon, Esther, Leila, Taylor and Kameron; one brother, Rev. Dr. James (Elvita) L. E. Hunt, and nieces and nephews who cherished their "Uncle Bubber". He was also loved by Brenda's children, Tim (Brandi) Jones and children, Tre'Von and Jamari; Kristin Propst
and children, Khalil and Khaliah; and Callie Ellison, a family friend who was like a brother.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Hunt at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral. There will be no public viewing. *Masks are required*
