Waverly Maurice Harris, son of the late Maurice and Eunice Catherine Harris, was born September 2, 1951 in Reidsville, NC. He departed this life at Novant Health-Forsyth Medical Center on April 10, 2022.

He graduated from the historic Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, NC.

After graduating, he served honorably in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. For his distinguished service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge M-16 and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Professionally, he was an owner-operator long distance truck driver. Driving trucks was his passion. For 36 years it provided him opportunities to travel throughout the United States. When he was not "on the road", he found joy in grooming and landscaping his yard.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Willie Jean Wright, preceded him in death.

Loving memories will be cherished by his beloved wife, Delores W. Harris; two sons: Desmond (Cherith) Harris of Greenwood, SC and Demond (LaShanda) Harris of Moore, SC.; one daughter, Tonya Wharton of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren: Jamaika, Ethan, Jayden, Lauren and Olivia Harris; sisters: Eunice (Charlie) Huff of Reidsville, NC, Ira (Marquis) Jessup of Kernersville, NC and Cordelia (Ignatius) Uche of Greensboro, NC; brothers: Michael (Pat) Harris, Calvin (Diane) Harris and Kwan Harris of Reidsville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Public viewing for Mr. Harris will be Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Benaja Mount Zion Holiness Church, 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery.
