Obituary

"For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away." 1Cor 13:9-10 NAV Vivian Marie Horne Bishop was born to the late Lorraine Harris Horne on October 7, 1958 in Winston-Salem, NC. Vivian attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools and was a graduate of West Forsyth High School. She grew up in the Boston community and on Jackson Avenue. Vivian was employed by the Winston-Salem Journal for over 20 years. Vivian was a great woman and wonderful mother. She loved her family, her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed music, watching movies and spending time with her family. She had a big heart, always caring for others. She made everyone smile with her huge personality. She was a great friend to many and a great listener. She made everyone feel like they had her undivided attention. She always knew what to say and how to say it. After a life full of adventure, the Lord saw fit to call Vivian home to be with Him, transitioning her peacefully in his arms on November 9, 2019. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Plater. The impact of Vivian's life and the seeds sown by her and on her behalf are manifested in the memories and legacy that she leaves behind in her children: Tyrone Horne, Derrick Horne and Irbretha Horne; four grandchildren: Derrick Horne, Jr., Chrisshad Bitting, Dezmond Horne and Steven Hughes, Jr.; one great grandchild, Nolan Horne; three sisters: Patrice Young, Georgia Horne and Rachel Moss; one brother, David Horne, Jr.; niece, Jessica Plater; nephew, James Plater; a host of other relatives, a number of friends and acquaintances whose lives she forever touched. Our Lord saw that Vivian's life was complete. He decided that it was time to make her perfect. With doves wings, He embraced Vivian, on doves wings, He carried Vivian and by doves wings, He delivered Vivian into His loving arms…forever and ever… Amen
