Mrs. Violetta Elnora Poston Lemons was born on December 31, 1949 to the late John F. Poston, Sr. and Anna Ruth Poston in Winston-Salem, NC.

She attended the local schools and was a graduate of Paisley High School. Violetta obtained her Bachelor of Art degree from Bennett College and her Masters in Special Education from Appalachian State University. Violetta spent her career in special education at Morganton Freedom High School and Henderson High School and achieved Teacher of the Year Award. She also taught Adult Basic Education at Forsyth Technical Community College and established to Special Education program at Forsyth Industrial Systems.

Violetta was a Gold Star member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the YWCA, Students for Christian Social Concern, Special Education Club and the Student Union Board. In her free time, she enjoyed photography, bowling and watching old movies.

Mrs. Lemons passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by John F. Poston, Jr., Wilhelm Poston, Margaret Poston, Amanda Poston and Willamenia Poston.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lemons; Ardis Smith, Johnny Winters, Lisa Hill, Ann Hill (Reverend Doctor), Denise Grantham and Jackie Taylor; other family members and friends.

Private funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM, July 16, 2021 at Parklawn Memorial Park. Entombment will follow.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM ~ 12:30 PM.
