Vanessa Stevenson was born January 14, 1954 to Lester & Juanita Braddy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was married to Mr. Elmer Stevenson. She worked at the Cloverdale Kitchen for many years in which she eventually retired. She accepted Christ and was a longtime member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she was involved in a number of church ministries.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Stevenson, her parents Lester and Juanita Braddy, a sister Mrs. Jacqueline Braddy Moore and her son Alexander Demetrius (Meatball) Catoe. She departed this life on Sunday evening, June 2, 2019 at Trellis Supportive Care formerly known as the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Mr. Tyrus Jermaine Catoe (TJ), two grandsonsMaster Deshawn and Javarr Howell and master Tylell Javarr Hall, two Aunts Mrs. Louise Braddy Ross and Mrs. Frances Baddy Cole, one uncle Jasper Sawyer, her Stepmother Mrs. Pamela Braddy, a nephew Ryan Moore and Andrea (Angie) Bagley, Crystral (Chris) Thomas, Veronica (Ronnie) Sawyer, a host of family and Friends a special friend and advocate, her sister in Christ Mrs. Sylvia temple Anthony.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
