Mr. Ulysus "Bae" Henry Rucker was born on May 28, 1949, the son of James Rucker and Ruby Jarels Rucker. Another soldier gone home; he earned his last reward on May 5, 2023.

Born in Mocksville, NC, he attended schools in Forsyth County and was a 1967 graduate of Carver High School in Winston-Salem. He later received an associate degree and furthered his education in engineering at NC State University.

He enlisted in the United States Navy and after being honorably discharged, became a truck driver for McLean Trucking Company. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he was the owner of A-I Heating & Air Conditioning. Additionally, he was a technician with Ed Kelly Appliances.

Ulysus was raised in the Church of Christ and attended Capernaum Church of Christ. In the community, he was a member of the Committee to Save the Children.

His pastimes included having a love of listening to different types of music, dancing, fishing and definitely being around people. He was a student of the Bible, who regularly and intently read the Word and shared scriptures with anyone who had an ear.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Rucker.

Those who remain to cherish precious memories: son, Eric (Nicole) Rucker; granddaughter, Erica Rucker; grandson, Thiry Dennis; four great-grandchildren, Gracei, Nova'lei, Noah'lei Dennis, and Sev'n Barber; mother, Ruby Jarels Rucker; sister, Mildred Rucker; three brothers, Artis (Theresa) Rucker of the city, Joseph (Burnu) Rucker, and Sanford (Bettye) Rucker of Arizona; uncles, Herman Rucker of Georgia and Joe (Marjorie) Jarels of Texas; aunts, Christine Summers of Massachusetts and Clara Tomlin; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service at 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons. The family will greet friends thirty-minutes prior to the service. Interment in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, North Carolina.
