Thelma B. Mayes, 76, was born on August 6, 1940 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Alma Yountz Allen and John Allen. She departed this earthly life on March 29, 2017. Thelma retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School system, where she gave over 40 years of service as a secretary. She was a member of the Meridian Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Lee Mayes. She leaves lasting memories for: her son, Ricky (Teronica) Mayes; 5 grandchildren: Antoinette M. Mayes, Khadijaa A. Lewis, Kimberly R. Mayes, Kayla M. Mayes and Katrina R. Mayes; a great granddaughter; a great great grandson; sister, Barbara Crutchfield; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
