Tanya Lavette Lewis Mayes was born September 2, 1962, to Harvey and Lois Lewis and was one of five children (Harvey, Ricky, Carlos and Mike)— the only girl in a sea of boys. She was a whirlwind in her youth and made a lasting impression on those she met. She enjoyed listening to artists like the OJ's, Luther Vandross, and Marvin Gaye. She was always excited to gather with family and friends.

Her GREATEST joy and accomplishment were her girls. An adoring mother, she raised four daughters with her former spouse Ricky Mayes: Khadijaa Lewis, Kimberly Mayes, Dr. Kayla Mayes, and Katrina (Chris) Jefferson. In addition, she was a proud grandmother to her first favorite, Aubrey Lawson, and Kairo Jefferson— the son she never had. Whether watching scary movies, eating tacos, or indulging in Waldo's Wings, she is remembered for savoring the little things.

Ms. Mayes family will have a private celebration of life service.
