On April 21, 1968 Sonja Renee Bailey was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Marilyn Bailey and Reverend Gwathney Leak, Sr.

Sonja was a student in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and graduated from Parkland High School. She continued her education, became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and provided care for many patients at Forsyth Medical Center.

On March 12, 2021 Sonja was called home to be with our heavenly father. There she joins among other relatives, her mother and her sister, Tonya Binson.

Sonja leaves behind to cherish precious memories: three children, Lorenzo Jarrett, Jr., Brittany Bailey and Brianna Bailey; father, Reverend Gwathney Leak, Sr; brothers, Reginald Bailey, Gwathney Leak, Jr.; sister, Monica Mumford McKinnie; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be private and there will be no public viewing of Ms. Bailey.
