Roger Dean Gist, Jr. was born September 27, 1961 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Roger and Geraldine Gist. He departed this life on August 19, 2022.

Roger grew up in Winston-Salem where he was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth School system. He had a passion for sports, especially for boxing. After serving in the Army for 3 years, he moved to Atlanta, GA, where he spent the most of his life before finally reuniting with his family. He worked in landscaping and loved the games of football, and basketball.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Dean Gist, Sr. and Geraldine Gist; sister, Renee Denise Gist. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Anissa Johnson; siblings, Regina Danette (George) Freyberger, Ronnie Derringer (Lhaila) Gist, Ramon Deon Gist, Rochelle Diane Gist and Ryan Derrell (Nani) Gist; and a host of nieces, and nephews.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Chapel. Interment Salisbury National Cemetery. *Masks required.
