Robert Louis
Dockery
Oct 17, 1957 — Oct 7, 2022
Mr. Robert Louis Dockery was born on October 17, 1957 in Hamlet, NC to the late Jesse Goodwin and Annie Beatrice Dockery. He passed away on October 7, 2022.
He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1976 and a veteran of the US Army. Professionally, he was a mason and a landscaper. A member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, he served faithfully with the Deacon Board and assisted with many church events. Robert Louis Dockery was a man of integrity with a yearning to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. His quiet laid back demeanor served him well. He was easy to approach and showed a genuine interest in people's lives. He actually walked the talk. His wife was indeed God's gift to him and he was her king. First and foremost, God is the head of their house!
A diehard Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) fan, he loved gardening, traveling, cooking and his family! Yes, "PaPa" is our earthly king. He left a legacy of love with us. We know that is what will carry us through and that we will see him in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Patricia Pratt, James Dockery, Katrina Dockery, Roosevelt "Chuck" Goodwin, Robert L. Goodwin and James O. Goodwin; his son-in-law, Deontae' Sanders; grandson, Deontae' Sanders, Jr. and his best friend, Antonio "Tony" Ingram.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are: his wife, Shirley Pankey Dockery; children: DeShantel Miller, Gary Miller, Jr., Kevin Miller, Travis McDonald, Ebony (Neil) Silas, LaQuisha Sanders, Angelica Bacote, LaTara Bell; grandchildren: KeOndre' Greene, Keonna Miller, Daija Dockery, Zion Dockery, Arianna Redmon-Miller, Christian Greene, Kendall Bellamy, Jaylin Bacote, Sydney Bellamy, Robert Bellamy, Logan Sanders, Layla Sanders, Nolan Bacote, Liam Bell, TyMir Pemberton, Tru Holland, Jordan McDonald, Tristy McDonald and Gianni Rivera; Siblings: Linda Dockery, Anthony Dockery, Stanley (Lula) Dockery, Verlene Goodwin, Margie Ingram, Kasha Goodwin, Jackie Goodwin, Cynthia York and Charles Goodwin.
