Obituary

Mr. Reginald Leon Covington was born on October 8, 1956. To the late Clyde and Elmeta Covington, Sr. in Winston-Salem, NC. On February 9, 2022, God sent his angels to lovingly escort his son to his heavenly home and Reginald departed this earthly life.

Reginald graduated from East Forsyth High School with the class of 1974 and the young man who once pretended he was a superhero wanted to be a superhero for his country after he graduated. He joined the United States Army and was proud to serve in the 82 nd Airborne Division. After completing his stint in the military, he was employed by the Veterans Administration. While working there he attended Winston-Salem State University and Forsyth Technical Community College and was awarded a bachelor's degree in accounting. Later he was employed by the United States Postal Service and retired after 25 years of service.

His family and friends lovingly called him Leon or Reggie. Leon had a good sense of humor and loved to share a good joke. Some of us know he didn't mind texting you in the middle of the night to do so. He was a generous man and an animal lover. His little Shih Tzus' were near and dear to his heart, and he treated them like his own children. They were loved and well taken care of. Leon loved his stepchildren DeCarlos "Bone" (Ratarsha) West, Rovenna "Mook" West, and his step grandchildren, Nyssa, Trinity, Teresa, Amaria and Armani.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Keith.

He is survived by his siblings: Clyde Jr., Beverly, Wayne, and Sheila (Johnny); two uncles, Donald and Alvin Covington; two aunts, Helena Bailey and Gwendolyn Covington; a total of eleven nieces and nephews: Sheneatha, Cassandra, Taronya, Shelly, Ricky, LaCoaster, Clyde, III, Michael, Melanie, Vickie, Dayia; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Leon is greatly missed, and we shall cherish the fond memories we have of him forever.
