Obituary

Mr. Pileatha Leon Edwards, 62, was born on August 27, 1953 in Winston Salem. "Leon", as he was known to all, was the son of the late Sylvester and Mildred Lewis Edwards. "Leon" was a lifelong resident of Winston Salem where he played hard and worked harder.

His personality and character consisted of so many titles that made him who he was. "I am who they say I am" he would say and that holds TRUTH. He was a faithful member of Praise Assembly Church for over 10 years where he served the Lord. He found much enjoyment with the fellowship among the members and the service.

The earthly phase of his life came to a peaceful end on July 10, 2016 surrounded by "MY CHILDREN, MY CHILDREN, MY CHILDREN" at Forsyth Medical Center. For those who knew him, know this, he fought an awesome battle against Cancer. God has taken him from this land of pain and sorrow to a land of peace and rest.

With lasting memories, he is survived by his wife Toni Edwards; six daughters Teleshia McGrath, Twanna (Terry) Gardner, Teronica (Ricky) Mayes, Sileatha (Kenard) Edwards, Phileatha and Whileatha Edwards, all of Winston Salem; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren of Winston Salem; a host of other relatives, church family and long-time friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Praise Assembly Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
