Patsy Gertrude Byers was born September 12, 1952 in Salisbury, North Carolina to Eugene Samuel Byers, Sr. and Bettie Mae Conrad-Byers. She departed this earth on August 16, 2025 peacefully at her residence.

She attended Forsyth County Schools and Hartford Public Schools. Patsy fondly called "Pat" was the life of the party with her jokes and beautiful smile. Patsy's family was the love of her life.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Eugene Samuel Byers, Sr. and Bettie Mae Conrad-Byers; two sisters, Julia Mae Jackson and Georgia Byers-Byrd; granddaughter, Ayanna Al-Malik.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her life partner, Coddell McConnell; children, Darryl Hugley, Jewell Thomas, Wendy Williams, Rahjan Al-Malik (LaQuondra), Quinton Byers (nephew-son); grandchildren, Janelle Joseph (Mekey), Alyssa Hampton, Shaheem Marshall, Farrad Shabazz, DeRoy Long, Jr., Destiny Long, Hassan Al-Malik, Mikayla Morris, Jameer Morris, Laila Hugley; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Byers-Hill, Betty Hart (Terry), Thelma Lowery (Laurion), Mary Byers-Ramey, Eunice Basta; brother, Eugene Samuel Byers, Jr., aka, Ali Shabazz and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.

There will be no viewing for Miss Byers. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Bethania AME Zion Church, 2120 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 27106.
