Myra G.
Benjamin
d. Dec 28, 2025
Mrs. Myra G. Benjamin, 83, received her wings and went home to be with the Lord on December 28th, 2025. She was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina to the late Exie E. Glenn and Hyacinth G. Watkins. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel L. Benjamin, and three siblings, Lateefah Razzark, Rodney Glenn, and Exie Alvin Glenn.
Mrs. Benjamin was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a machine operator for over 40 years. She was a lifelong member of Bethania A.M.E. Zion Church where she served faithfully. She was a member of the Senior Usher Board, President of the Deaconess Board, and a member of the Lay Council. On May 18th, 2025 she was recognized in a service award honoree program for her faithful and dedicated service. She always had a humble spirit, a beautiful smile, and always had a way of making others feel special. Music, dancing, and Zumba made her the happiest, and she was always ready to cut a rug.
She leaves to cherish many precious memories: two daughters, Sonsonia Jenese Miller, and LaWanda (Cedric) Lash of Winston Salem, three grandchildren that were her heartbeats, Matrisha Monique Stafford, Alexandrea Nicole Lash, and Kendrick Isaiah Lash. Two sisters, Geraldine (Bobby) Smith of Winston Salem, Loretta G. Cannon of Marietta, Georgia, one brother, Shelton (Carolyn) Glenn, of Houston, Texas, one devoted sister-in-law, Jeanette Glenn of Florence, South Carolina, four devoted nieces, Linda (Paula) Lewis, Shannon Robinson, Shawn Glenn, Felicia Glenn, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A very special thanks to her closest neighbors who made sure she had everything she needed and have become her extended family, and a BIG thank you to her Zumba family and Shirley G., who played an intricate part of her active lifestyle.
Funeral service for Mrs. Benjamin will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Bethania AME Zion Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Forsyth Memorial Park. Public viewing will be Monday, January 5, 2026 from 12:00 PM ~ 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
