Phyllis Jean Alston passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born September 21, 1959, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Harry James, Jr., and Zephyree James.

She graduated from East Forsyth Senior High School in June 1977 and served in the United States Army from September 6, 1978, through September 5, 1981, attaining the rank of Specialist Four.

Phyllis will be remembered for her strength, determination, hard work, and love for her only child, Antoine James.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry James, Jr., and her brother, Ronnie James.

Survivors include her mother, Zephyree James; son, Antoine James; grandchildren, Demin Ava Chester and Lyberti Grace Richardson-James; brothers, Charles James, Wayne James, and Harold James; sister-in-law, Renee James; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Public viewing from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service 1:30 PM, Thursday, November 5, 2026 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Family visitation 1:00 PM. Interment in Salisbury National Cemetery.
