Mrs. Mildred Louise Martin Hale, 88, peacefully passed away at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Advance, NC on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

She was born to the late Archie and Mary Ann Martin in Mount Gilead, NC on March 9, 1928. The youngest of six siblings. Mrs. Hale graduated in 1950 from NC College in Durham, NC (NC Central University) where she earned a BS degree in Commerce. Mrs. Hale spent most of her adult life in Washington, DC with her late husband, Leonard where she taught in the DC School System. Following retirement, Mr. & Mrs. Hale relocated to Winston-Salem and joined First Baptist Church.

Those family members who survive include her daughter/niece, Millicent Carter and her children, Roderick (Tracy) Carter, Charles Harris, Jr. and Chandra D. Harris; nephew, Archie (Janet) Martin; niece, Sheila Smith; cousin, Albert Smith; long-time friend, Lorene Jones; advocate, Gloria Harris and her daughter, Morgan Kelley.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 9, 2016 at First Baptist Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
