Michelle Hewitt-Smith was born in Washington DC to the late Dr. Nathaniel E Hewitt and Minnie L. Hewitt on April 9, 1970. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by her husband, James David Smith and her older brother Nathaniel E. Hewitt III. Michelle is being mourned by her older sister, Denise Hewitt Chaplin and younger brother, Christopher Eric Hewitt.

Michelle spent her formative years in Winston Salem, graduating from West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, North Carolina. At the age of 16, she met the love of her life James David Smith. Michelle went on to become a Registered Nurse of the State of North Carolina. She worked for a number of hospitals including but not only Duke University Medical Center, Triumph Mental Health LLC and Guilford County Public Health Department. Michelle held a number of positions including travel nursing for a number of hospitals and worked with the Cherokee Nation at their hospital in Cherokee, North Carolina. Michelle also worked diligently in the fight of Covid 19. Her true love was Mother Baby. She served her clients with love and distinction.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Galilee Baptist Church. Family visitation at 10:00 AM. Interment in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
