With her family by her side, Marion (Mern) was granted her wings on January 11, 2024 at Baptist Hospital. Marion was born January 9, 1957 in North Carolina, the youngest daughter of Elven Gist.

Marion was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and worked at Graylyn Estate for almost four decades before retiring.

She spent most of her time with her kids and grandkids. She was very devoted, trustworthy, honest, loyal and would give you either her last dime or shirt off her back.

Marion is preceded in death by her mother, Elven Gist and brother, Roger Gist.

She leaves to mourn, her two sons, James and Darian Gist, who she called her "Gentle Giant" and "Big Bear"; and one that would call her own, Jarik Gist; grandkids, Darian Jr., Kaden Quaye and Ja'Lan Gist; brothers, Fletcher and John Gist of the city, Larry (Bernice) Gist of Detroit, MI; sisters, Dorenda Gist of Cleveland, OH, Catherine and Ora Mae of the city and Brenda Richardson of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends; notable mention, Ronald Lash, Ruth Seitz and Katherine Crook.

Public viewing will be from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Clark S. Brown Sons Funeral Home. Family visitation will be thirty-minutes prior to service. Entombment in Gardens of Memory
