Ms. Loretta Hughes was born October 17, 1944 to the late James and Mary Francis Hughes in New York, NY. She passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on November 14, 2022.

Loretta was a graduate of Paisley High School and received her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, New York City. Her career included employment with Simplicity Pattern Company in New York, NY, Sears, in the Chicago, IL Executive Office, and Hanes Brands, Winston-Salem, NC. She was a member of Winston Salem First Church.

In the community, she had an encouraging presence and volunteered with Newborns in Need, Inc., and Susan G. Komen.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her sister, Catherine (Grippon) Boags, of Charleston, SC; her brothers, Walter Hughes and Louis Hughes, both of New York, NY; three nieces; three nephews; several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, November 21, 2022 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be no public viewing of Ms. Hughes.
