Lenroe
Burgess
Sep 12, 1953 — Mar 2, 2022
Mr. Lenroe "Bubba" Burgess was born on September 12, 1953 in Florence County, SC to the late Lillian Burgess and Leroy Burgess, Sr. He received his elementary education in the Lake City, SC schools and later received his GED from Forsyth Technical Community College.
Intrigued by city life and better job opportunities, he traveled to Florida, New York and Texas, before settling in Winston-Salem, NC. Earlier, he was employed by E.G. Forrest and Douglas Battery. Later he found his true passion while working for Styron Flooring, installing floors and carpets. In a spirit of entrepreneurship and service, he used his time and talents in home remodeling, a trade he enjoyed until his health declined.
Lenroe joined Salvation Church of the First Born. He became a faithful church member, fully committed servant of Christ, and very strong prayer warrior! He received his evangelist license and loved living for the Lord. He was always willing and ready to minister and share his testimony.
He was a working man, doing everything to the best of his ability with precision and detail. He enjoyed fixing things, doing home improvement projects and working on his car.
One who loved his family, he would sit for hours talking about our history and checking in to make sure everyone was okay. He made sure to keep in touch with both sides of our family.
He loved all types of music and was often told that he resembled Marvin Gaye. So much so, that he shared his interest in music weekly as a volunteer disc jockey playing gospel at radio station 90.5 FM WSSU. A great "girl dad", he was always there for his four girls in every capacity. His great advice, loving wisdom, and constant prayers were immeasurable and will be greatly missed.
Lenroe departed this life on March 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Gamble. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, four daughters: Miranda Cooper and son-in-law, Bruns Cooper of Gastonia, NC, Monica Fulmore of Sumter, SC, TeAndela Brown-Hughes and TeKeyla Brown of Winston-Salem, NC; four siblings: Sylvia Burgess of Bronx, NY, Annie Ruth Burgess of Indiantown, FL, Leroy (Barbara) Burgess, Jr. of Darlington, SC and Cedell (Sylvia) Burgess of Lake City, SC; brother in law Gene Gamble; a special aunt, Mrs. Lessie Mae Williams of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Public viewing for Mr. Burgess will be Monday, March 7, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Service will be private.
