Obituary

Keewaunee NeeChele Lentz (Kee) died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Keewaunee was loved by all who crossed her path. Keewaunee had a great sense of humor and would tease or prank anyone crossing her path. One of her greatest joys was sneaking up on you and scaring you out of your wits.

Dancing was a passion of hers that she wanted to pursue in her future but was short lived after performing in The Wiz at the Landmark Theatre in Richmond, Virginia at age seven and then being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. She was obsessed with the whole Barbie Doll scene and was gifted by family with every item that came on the market. She would solicit her brother BJ to come into her room and play with her Barbie collections for hours with her and he did so lovingly.

Born in Winston-Salem on January 28, she was then moved to Richmond, Virginia where she grew up and was a graduate of Armstrong High School. After being educated in Richmond, Virginia, Keewaunee returned to North Carolina where she continued her education in the Nursing field and worked in Nursing Homes where she loved taking care of the elderly. She would get permission to sign some of the more mobile patients out of the facility and take them to church

Keewaunee started her family and after many years of raising her family in Winston-Salem, she decided to return to Richmond, Virginia where she spent the last nine years before returning to Winston-Salem in July of 2022.

Keewaunee was an avid lover of kids who gravitated to her infectious personality. Her love was like an elastic band, no matter how far she would go the kids would always find a way to connect to her so that her cousin, Delvon Meekins would deal with no one as a child except Keewaunee and his mother, Regina.

Keewaunee loved to do hair and was great at creating hairstyles when you could keep her still long enough to complete it in a timely manner.

One amazing quality she possessed was being an amazing mother to both her beautiful daughters Diamond and Morgan. Her love was unconditional and there were no lengths she wouldn't go through to see a smile on their faces. Motherhood has no manual, but Keewaunee mastered the skill of being the best mother to her girls.

Keewaunee is survived by daughters: Diamond Lentz (Hezekiah) and Morgan Williford; son, Steven Williford; mother, Carolyn White; father, Thomas Starks; devoted friend, Steve Williford; brothers, Willice N. White, III (Tiffany), Antwan Duncan; sisters, Nakialee Starks, Nadia Starks, Denee Starks, Natasha Duncan-Alston (William), Felecia Mitchell (Arron); brother-in-law, Marvin Williford; grandparents, Gettis and Ruth Torrance; bonus brothers, Barry France (Andrea), Marvin L.
