Kathryn A.
Mccaully
Jul 3, 1929 — Dec 12, 2018
On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, after a long and arduous end-of-life trek, Mrs. Kathryn Ann McCaully, 89, departed this world to be reunited in the next with her husband and life partner of sixty-seven years, Bernard. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her assisted living suite at Salemtowne.
Kathryn was born on July 3, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA to George and Mary (Kennedy) Reiss. Before starting her family, Kathryn worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Lipton Tea Company. Later, as a career homemaker, she focused her energies on the growth, development and health of her family. Kathryn was an accomplished conversationalist/storyteller who never met a stranger and was a voracious, life-long reader. She also enjoyed travel, volunteering and spending time with family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by daughter Eileen Marshall (Jim) of Pittsburgh, PA, and two sons – Dan McCaully of Dayton, TX and Tom McCaully (Kate) of Winston-Salem, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren whom she adored – Patrick McCaully (Rachael), Lynn Pickering (Steve), Madelyn McCaully (Bryan McCance), Chris Vayda (Jeff), Neil McCaully (Linda), Catherine and Mary Ann McCaully and five great-grandchildren.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 17, 2018, at Our Lady Queen of Americas Catholic Church in Conneaut Lake, PA.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Salemtowne – particularly the staff of the Assisted Living Community – for their loving care of Mom over the past year, as well as for their kindness and support of the entire family during her final months. Memorial gifts can be made to the Adult Outreach Department of the Forsyth County Public Library at 660 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Please be sure to indicate on the memo line of your check that your gift is in her memory.
