John William Patterson, age 48, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born on April 22, 1978, in Columbia, South Carolina, John lived a life rooted in steady grace, sharp intellect, and quiet devotion to those he loved.

John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and went on to receive a Master's degree in Statistics. Those who knew him will remember him most for his exceptionally kind and supportive but intellectually penetrating disposition. Gifted with a natural humor and charm, he had a rare ability to step up and be completely present for others in times of need. He never met a challenge with complaint; instead, he approached life's responsibilities with a quiet, infectious joy that brought comfort to everyone around him.

John is survived by his loving parents: Wanda and Ronald Patterson; his devoted siblings: Sherri, Ronald Jr., Scott, Evelyn, and Preston; his cherished nieces and nephews: Amber, Jamie, Fatimah, Ronald III, Wesley, Bilal, Judah, and Ra; great nieces: Yasmeen, Makeda, and Kylar; one great nephew: Clay; Aunt Marcelle, Uncle Leroy and a host of cousins and other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 29, 2026 at Sherwood Forest United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27106.
