Mr. John H. Harris, 74, was born on September 2, 1942 to the late Archie and Annie Bell Harris in Wilson, NC. John was a production supervisor at Industries for the Blind, Winston-Salem, NC. more than twenty years. At retirement, he became sole-proprietor of John Harris Janitorial Service. He was a faithful member of Center Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Tobaccoville, N.C. where he served on the Steward Board for more than 25 years until his vision became impaired.

On Thursday, June 1, 2017, he departed this life. He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Deloris Harris; daughter; Manita Harris Johnson of Charlotte, NC; sons: John H. Harris, Jr of Wilmington, N C and Elder Olando (Mary) Speas, Winston Salem, NC; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-granchildren; 4 sisters: Lillian Johnson, Beulah Hart, Ernestine Joyner and Barbara Woodward of Wilson, NC; brother, William (Ramatha) Harris; 2 sisters-in-law: Ann (Dr. Harry) Caldwell and Rev. Belinda Harris; brother-in-law, Lester B. Speas, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Center Grove AME Zion Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. For a copy of the funeral program, click here
