John Andy Evans, Jr., age 86, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. He left this earth peacefully, surrounded by those he loved. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Maria; his daughter Joanna Caretti, her husband Leonard and their son Miles; and his daughter Allison Martin, her husband David and their son, August; and his brother James Evans of Wadesboro, NC. John was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on December 19, 1933 to the late John Andy and Vivian Clingman Evans. He attended North Carolina A&T University where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. After serving in the Army and honorably discharged in 1958, John worked for Formica Corporation, retiring as a regional sales director. John enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife, Maria, and in recent years spending time with his young grandsons. John was a devout Christian who lived to serve others. He was an active member of the Manassas Church of Christ where he has worshiped for nearly 40 years. He was also a longtime member of the Gainesville Ruritan Club. John's funeral will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Manassas Church of Christ, at 8110 Signal Hill Rd. Manassas, VA 20111, with a viewing at 6PM and service beginning at 7PM. He will be laid to rest at his family burial plot at the Capernaum Church of Christ Cemetery in Clemmons, North Carolina on Saturday, February 1, 2020. In lieu of flowers, his family has asked for donations to St. Jude's Children's hospital and the American Red Cross.
