Joel David Goodson was born on September 14, 1970 in Greensboro, NC to the late Stacy Willie Walter Goodson and Mary Morrison Goodson. He attended the Guilford County schools and graduated from James B. Dudley High School. His quest for furthering his education continued at North Carolina State University where he received a BS degree. There was no doubt that Joel was a proud member of the "Wolfpack".

Professionally Joel worked for several insurance agencies. He was employed as a Records Specialist with the City of Winston-Salem in Planning and Development Services.

A member of Love and Faith Ministries, he served in the Ministry of Encouragement, the Unmarried Ministry, the Praise and Worship Team and the Community Information Link.

Joel enjoyed outings with his sister, traveling, going to the movies, dining at various restaurants, watching sports, playing golf and volunteering for the National Black Festival.

Unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2019, Joel passed away. In addition to his parents, Stacy Walter Goodson and Mary Ann Morrison Goodson, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dave V. Goodson and Almeter Goodson; maternal grandparents, Wade Morrison, Sr. and Viola McAuley Morrison.

Joel leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted sister Carmella Ann (Brian) Jefferies; brother, Stacy Clifford (Shirley) Goodson, both of Winston-Salem; a loving aunt, Dinnah Morrison Gilmer of Greensboro; an uncle, Herbert Goodson, also of Greensboro; a devoted cousin, Tara (Charles) Smith of Greensboro; a host of other cousins and God-children

Funeral service will be held, Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship in Kernersville. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to service. Interment Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
