Mr. Joe Perkins, 80, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center, on August 2, 2017 following a period of illness. He was born to the late Jesse Hudley and Joe Perkins, Sr. in Bennettsville, South Carolina on November 19, 1936. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Henley, Eva Lee and Mary; and a brother, Willie Blair.

Mr. Perkins retired as an Acid Specialist from Douglas Battery Company. He had also worked as a Tile Setter for nearly twelve years.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Perkins; son, Richard Herring; daughters, Eva Herring, Gina Perkins, Josene Perkins, Geraldine Perkins of New York, Denice Rasheed of Florida and Jasmine Miller of the city; grandchildren, Jai Perkins, Jayda Simmons, Angel Guzman, Arianna Price and Tony Williamson; brother, Alexander (Patricia) Blair; special friend, David Reid; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the chapel.
