Jo Ann
Albright Carpenter
Oct 30, 1942 — May 13, 2020
Jo Ann Albright Carpenter, affectionately known as "Jo Baby" was born on October 30, 1942 in Winston-Salem to the late Alonzo Albright and Annie Bowman Albright. She was the youngest and the last surviving of their four children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Etheridge Albright, Shirley Albright and Alene Albright Boyd. Jo Ann lived in Winston-Salem all her life and attended the local schools. She worked in Housekeeping at Wake Forest University until her health declined. Jo Ann received her early Christian foundation at Bethlehem Baptist Church under the late Rev. E.L. Clark. Those who knew our mother, knew that she loved painting, drawing and writing poems. She knew how to get a party started and was known for her dancing. We find comfort in knowing that she is now probably dancing up a storm! She leaves to cherish their memories: her son, Bobby Albright; her daughter, Ulanda (Nathan) Brooks, Sr.; three grandchildren: Nate (Tafari) Brooks, Jr., Brigett Brooks and Bobby Albright-McQueen; eight great grandchildren: Kemia Worthy, Nabria Worthy, Nadiya Brooks, Morgan Brooks, Caleb Brockington, Teyon Albright-Bryant, Patience Albright-Bryant and Jasson Dunlap; a bonus great granddaughter, Kayla Gaines; a host of nieces, nephews and special dear childhood friend, Brenda Harris
Funeral service will be private due to COVID 19 Mandate. Ms. Carpenter may be publicly viewed on Friday, May 15, 2020 form 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
