Mr. Jesse Leon Cook, affectionately known as "Ricky" was born on March 25, 1955 in New York, NY to the late Mathew Sawyer and Catherine Cook Sawyer.

Jesse attended Atkins High School and worked for the City of Winston-Salem for 34 years and retired in 2008 from the Street Division.

On Friday, February 28, 2020, Mr. Cook passed away at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

He is survived by a son, Jesse Leon Cook, II; four granddaughters: Jaliah Sides, Nyemia Sides, Emma Quick, and Alhina Quick;his mother, Catherine Cook Sawyer; two sisters, Helena Sawyer and Jessica Waters; three nephews: John A. Thomas, Jr., Matthew C. Waters, and Joshua Waters; one niece: Reashay Sawyer Hall; and a host of great-nieces and nephews; also, survived by his devoted friend, Gisetta "Tonya" Crumpton.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.
