James Kennard Terry was born on April 23, 1961, in Winston Salem, NC. He was the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from Parkland High School in Winston Salem. He lived in Michigan for a time. Upon returning to Winston Salem in the mid-eighties, he met Denise Terry and her children, Anisha Terry and Jamaal Terry. He loved them as his own. Married in 1989, this union of 22 years was blessed with 5 more children, Imara Terry, Terrell Terry, Jessica Terry, Sabra Terry, James Terry II, and 11 grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are two siblings, Rhonda Haider, Danita Craft and numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. He also leaves one older son, William Allen and 3 grandchildren, whose relationship developed in recent years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James H., and Louise Terry; his siblings, Theopilia Covington, Donald Terry, Cynthia O'Neal, Adrienne Terry, Nerissa Terry, and Stephanie Terry.

He took pride in providing for his family. He learned the trade of plumbing and developed a business as a plumbing contractor. He self-taught many skills and worked in general maintenance. He was crafty and creative and enjoyed his work. He enjoyed fishing and camping, football, cooking, beach trips, cookouts, and gardening. He attended all holiday events with family. He lived a very active life.

There will be no public viewing. Celebration of Life will held at 1 PM, Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Chapel, 727 N. Patterson Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
