James Henry Evans, age 85, responded to his Master's calling early Monday morning, December 28, 2020 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He leaves behind his two nieces, Joanna (Evans) Caretti of Ashburn, Virginia and Allison (Evans) Martin of Great Falls, Virginia. James was born on March 31, 1935 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After completing college at Winston-Salem State University, he dedicated his life to education. In 1960, James moved to Anson County to teach at Henry Grove School in Lilesville, North Carolina. Over a 50-year career, James served several teaching and administrator positions within the Anson County School System, to include his appointment as principal of the East Polkton Elementary School. He retired in 2010 and spent his time researching the family ancestry, spending time with his friends and family in Wadesboro and Clemmons and remaining an active member of the Capernaum Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, John Andy and Vivian Clingman Evans and his two brothers, John Andy Evans Jr. and Robert Nelson Evans. Mr. Evans will have a private funeral service and interment at Capernaum Church of Christ. He may be publicly viewed today from 12:00 PM~5:00 PM at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home.
