James E.
Cason Jr.
Jul 5, 1951 — Nov 14, 2025
James "Jimmy" Edward Cason Jr., of Winston-Salem, NC, was born on July 5, 1951, to the late James and Mary Alice Cason Sr. He was the second of three children.
Jimmy graduated from Simon G. Atkins High School in 1969 and later obtained his insurance license. He attended the East Congregation with his devout Christian family and dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 16, 1960, at just nine years old. Raised as a Bible student, he developed a deep love for teaching Bible truths. Although he was offered a scholarship after high school to pursue a tennis career, his desire to serve Jehovah led him to choose the full-time Christian ministry as a regular pioneer.
On March 18, 1978, he married his devoted wife, Ivery Cason. Throughout their 47 years of marriage, they enjoyed ballroom dancing, hosting gatherings in their home, and celebrating each anniversary at Arigato's Steakhouse. Together they faced both joyful and difficult times, remaining resilient by maintaining "a threefold cord" with Jehovah (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Ivery is deeply grateful to have shared life with a spiritual man who built a strong foundation for their family. As a devoted father to his children, he cherished family time, vacations, supporting their interests, and guiding them spiritually.
Although he retired from Dudley Products in 2006, he continued his passion for the ministry with renewed zeal. He had many hobbies such as tennis, basketball, videography, photography, drumming, playing cards, karaoke but was a devoted Cowboys football fan, where it was rare to ever see him without his gear. However, he was well-known for his preaching and teaching… where he assisted many to come to know the true God, Jehovah!
He took great joy in his role as a grandfather… With the passing of his daughter Kelly in 2019, he helped to raise his grandsons with love and compassion— leaving an example they will always carry with them.
One of Jimmy's proudest accomplishments was his faithful service to Jehovah. He served as a trusted elder in the North English Congregation off Shattalon Drive, shepherding the flock with warmth and genuine care. He also treasured his role on the Hospital Liaison Committee, supporting fellow believers and advocating for their needs. His long-time assignment in the baptismal pool allowed him to form special, life-changing bonds with many.
James (Jimmy) Cason Jr. fell asleep in death Friday, November 14, 2025. He was preceded by his parents James and Mary Alice Cason Sr., sister Jamona Goldsmith; daughters Kimberley and Kelly Cason.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ivery Cason; his sons, Jeremy Cason and James Cason III; his daughter, Kari (Quincy) Jackson; his sister, Deborah Cason; and his grandchildren, Brittany and Brianna Collins, Adelle Marie Cason, Jaden, Gabriel (Danica), and Nicholas Johnson. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, McKinley, Jace, and Grae Johnson; his nieces, Monica (Chris) Goolsby and Jana (Billy) Powell; his nephews, Steven (Amanda) Goldsmith and Milford Goldsmith II; and a host of other relatives, dear friends, and family in the faith.
Jimmy's life was marked by faith, kindness, and a generous spirit. He touched countless lives and left behind a legacy of love, service, and unshakable devotion to Jehovah. He wholeheartedly believed in the resurrection hope and Jehovah's earthly kingdom as mentioned at Revelation 21:3,4. We can be comforted to know that he is sleeping and we will be reunited with him and our dear loved ones soon.
We will miss hearing him say… "How 'bout them Cowboys?"
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025 on the campus of Winston-Salem State University's Albert H. Anderson Jr. Conference Center, 1545 Reynolds Park Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27110
