Ida H.
Michael
Dec 12, 1933 — Nov 15, 2021
Ida H. Michael (affectionally known as "G") transitioned on November 15, 2021. She was born in Lexington, North Carolina on December 12, 1933, to the late Henry Henderson and Callie Henderson Williams.
She attended Atkins High School in Winston Salem and art school in Cleveland, Ohio. Ida married the late Julius Michael and together they raised their daughter Larnettra Richardson, previously married to Toby Richardson, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
As a dark room technician and photographer, Ida was known for her ability to take, develop, and restore amazing photos. She was also a certified cosmetologist. Her hobbies included painting, singing, traveling, and shopping. She showed her unique love in her smile, collard greens, pound cake, sweet potato pie, assigned nicknames, scheduled phone calls, care packages, and sarcastic humor.
She attended Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang on the choir and was also the photographer for many years. She loved to read and teach the Bible, and she was always ready and willing to share her wisdom and the many stories from her past. She was an active member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority for almost 50 years. Above all, Ida was the type of matriarch who put God and her family first and provided a safety net for everyone she loved.
Ida is survived by her daughter Larnettra Richardson; her granddaughters Tenille Richardson-Quamina and her husband Ian Quamina, Tori Daniels and her husband Marcus Daniels, and Tavyn Collins and her husband Stan Collins; her great-grandsons Stanford Collins III, Shawn Collins, Marcus Daniels, Jeremiah Daniels, and Elijah Daniels; her great-granddaughters Rebel Quamina and Nova Quamina; her older brother Henry Henderson and younger brother James Henderson along with his wife Joan Henderson; her godson James Barber; her best friends Gretha Michael and Bernice Cates and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held private. There will be no public viewing of Mrs. Michael.
