Mr. Henry T. Barksdale, 87, affectionately known as "Hen", entered into eternal rest from his residence on Saturday, January 28, 2017 following a brief period of illness. He was born in Forsyth County, NC to the late Henry Hamlin Barksdale and Ethel Spann Barksdale on January 6, 1930.

Hen attended the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and retired from Goltra, Inc. Mr. Barksdale was a faithful member of Bethania AME Zion Church, where he faithfully served as an usher for more than 30 years. He was a proud member of the Good Neighbor Community Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy. Those survivors who will cherish fond memories of him include his sisters: Rosa "Sis" Barksdale and Alice Samuels; a brother, Albert Barksdale; his godson, James "Jimmy" Hauser, Jr.; his dear friends, Ricky Surratt and Edward Lash; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Bethania AME Zion Church at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 4, 2017. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
