Mr. Haywood Lorenzo Thomas was born on October 31, 1957 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Hazel Thomas and Dorothy Mae McKay Thomas. He passed away on April 13, 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

He attended the local public schools and received his high school diploma. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served for six years. Professionally he worked as a landscaper and handyman. Haywood was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend had a good heart and was loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Maggie Jackson and Andrea Dian Thomas; wife, Kim Thomas; four uncles: Dock McKay, Sr., Robert McKay, Isaac McKay and Charles McKay; three aunts: Susanna Chambers, Frances Taylor and Bertha Johnson.

Left to cherish their memories of Haywood are: his son, Haywood Lorenzo Thomas, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Danielle Thom-as; six grandchildren: Harlyn Thomas, Winter Thomas, Nyasia Coles, King Thomas, Chance Thomas and Ricardo Coles; step-children, Shawn Nivens and Keisha Nivens; four sisters: Delores Thomas, Catherine Wharton, Mae Frances T. White (Wilford Harvey) and Denise Thomas; aunt, Katie Carpenter; uncle, Moses McKay; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing for Mr. Thomas will held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home.
