Mr. George McLean Cherry, Jr., affectionately known as "June Bug" departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. He was born on September 9, 1972 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late George McLean Cherry, Sr. and Mary Louise Cherry. George was a 1991 graduate of Carver High School. He was self-employed in trucking and child care for several years. His hobbies were spending time with his kids and grandkids, fishing, roller skating, playing bingo and watching the ID channel. George was also a self-taught guitarist. In addition to his father, George was preceded in death by his wife, Tiffany Cherry; daughter, Johnnea Coleman and his grandmothers, Estell Frazier and Elaine Fulp Hall. He is survived by his eleven children: Damara Dodd, Janisha Coleman, Tanisha Cherry, Lasherry Cherry, Trinity Cherry, Jovontae Coleman, Jarrod Coleman, George Cherry, III, Terrion Cherry, Teryan Cherry and Taylen; seven grandchildren; his beloved mother, Mary Louise Cherry; three sisters: Shannon Robinson, Kenya (Kerrmitt) Williams, Monica (Bryant) Thompson; brother, Rodney (Dianette) Jacobs, Sr.; devoted mother-in-law, Ethel Jones; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
