Oct 23, 1943 — Jan 21, 2025
Gary Nathaniel Page, age 81, was born October 23, 1943 to the late Deacon James Ray Page and Daisy Harper Page. Gary, a beloved and devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, father, foster parent, grandfather, pastor and friend, passed away at Novant Health Medical Center on January 21, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Allie Moser and Julia Mae Brown; four brothers, James Page Jr., George Page, William Page and Kenneth Page; and one foster son, Anthony Sansbury.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 61 years, George Anna Page (named after her father; Gary would be the only one to call her by her first name "George," endearingly); his daughters, Tekoa P. Jarrett and Karen P. Burnette (Wayne); one foster son, Lamont Sansbury; two grandchildren, Sterling Donnell Jarrett and Jaida Nicole Burnett; a sister, Martina Page; and brother, Martin Page; sisters-in-law, Brenda M. Jarrett (Curtis) and Odessa Page; a few nieces closest to him were Belinda Williams, Juliette Page and Deitra Henderson and nephew Cory Jarrett (Kimberly). He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends, too many to name, to cherish dear memories.
He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools, then at the age of 13, left on a journey to live with his aunt and uncle, Willie J. & Sybil Harper in New York, NY, where he completed his schooling. Upon his return home, he met the love of his life, George Anna and they were married on September 22, 1963. He was employed at Briggs Shaffner as Foundry Supervisor for 25 plus years.
Under the spiritual guidance of his in-laws, Rev. George W. and Lillie A. Moir, he saw how blessed a life they had serving as Christians in the Ministry. He answered the call to minister to the needs of mankind and preached his initial sermon on July 31, 1966 at Antioch Christian Church, WS, NC. He preached for 2 years at Mount Olive East Christian Church, Martinsville, VA as one of three "supply" pastors. He was invited to be homecoming speaker at Corinth Christian Church, Chatham, VA in October 1969, not knowing he would be invited to serve as Pastor of Corinth just four months later. He was then installed in February 1970. The first 9 years of his 54 years at Corinth were shared with New Bethel Christian Church, Fieldale, VA.
Rev. Page served the Disciples of Christ Piedmont District as Moderator, Board member, Trustee, and President of the Minister's Fellowship. Throughout the years, he leaned on Jesus, trusted in God and always depended on His word.
One fact everyone knew about Rev. Page, was that he was humorous, loving, inspiring and dedicated to his endeavors. Gary was a die-hard Pittsburg Steelers fan (The #1 Fan) and everybody knew it whenever his team would beat the Dallas Cowboys. Those friends were sure to receive a phone call from him, bragging about the Steeler Nation…and who would have guessed that George Anna the only Cowboy fan in the house (figure that)!!!
Public viewing will be from 12:00PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service 1:00 PM, Friday, January 31, 2025 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends thirty-minutes prior to service.
