Mr. Fred Miller Lash was born on July 3, 1927 in Forsyth County, North Carolina to the late James and Cora Miller Lash. He attended Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Employed as a forklift operator at Hanes Dye and Finishing, he retired after 40 years of service to the company. As a loving and proud father, he found great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.

On Thursday, May 25, 2023, after having lived a full life, he passed away at his residence. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lash was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lizzie Mae Wright Lash; his grandson, Kenneth William Wright, Jr.; sisters: Mary Lash, Savannah Lash, Kathryn Mitchell, Gloria Butler and Frances Lash; brothers: James "Ed" Lash, Jr. and Robert Lash.

Those family members who will mourn his loss but cherish his legacy include: his devoted daughter and caregiver, Vanessa Lash Conrad (Junior Scales); sons: Kenneth William (Vernessa) Wright, Sr., Michael Lash, Fredrick (Jackie) Lash, Wayne Lash and James Lash; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; several extended family members and many friends.

Public viewing will be from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 in Piedmont Memorial Park, 3663 Piedmont Memorial Drive, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
