Estella O.
Mcfadden
Jun 29, 1928 — Jun 16, 2025
Born on June 29, 1928 to Nora Hines and Odeyses Oden, Estella was the only child raised in Marion, South Carolina, where she attended Johnakin High School.
From an early age, she demonstrated the quiet strength, wisdom, and grace that would define her long and meaningful life.
Estella was a dedicated member of Lloyd Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served as an Elder and Treasurer for many years. Her leadership and steadfast faith were a cornerstone of the church community.
After a distinguished career, Estella retired from Woolworth Department Store having dedicated over 30 years of service. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was known in the community as a "sergeant mother," opening her home and heart to care for many, offering guidance, support and love to those around her; extending that love as also an activist.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Derio McFadden; her sons, Richard White, Jr., Odyseys White, and Glenn White; her daughters, Jacqueline White and Gloria Jean Richardson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She leaves a legacy that spans five generations, cherished by her two devoted sons, Tony L. White of Sacramento, California and Ronzoni (Carolyn) White of Missouri; and her loving daughter, Vernessa Wright; a dedicated caregiver of Winston-Salem, NC. Estella is also remembered fondly by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren expanding to five generations; extending family members, and friends who were touched by her love and legacy.
Estella's life was a true testament of faith, endurance, and grace. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
