Doris Deloris Hauser Floyd Elliott quietly went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2025. Born on March 10, 1930 in Yadkinville, NC, she was the daughter of Reverend Daniel and Callie V. Hauser. Raised in the church, Doris was a God-fearing woman whose faith remained a central part of her life.

She dedicated her career to nursing, beginning at Freedman's Hospital in Washington, DC, now part of Howard University Hospital-later retiring as an LPN from Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Doris had a passion for shopping and was known for her lively flea market booth, where she sold her famous peanut brittle and Obama memorabilia.

As her health declined, Doris moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania to live with her eldest daughter, Dr. Jannis Floyd. Eventually, both relocated three years ago to Winston-Salem, where Doris was lovingly cared for by her son, Steven and granddaughters, Yvonne and Yvette.

In recent months, she often recited the Lord's Prayer and softly called out the names of her mother and siblings, day and night. It was clear-Momma was tired and ready to go home to them.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents: her first husband, James; her second husband, Junius; her sisters: Beaulah, Martha, Fannie, Dora, and Velma; and her brothers: Martin, Brady, Bernard, Leonard, Reginald and David.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her sister, Mary Oleana; her children: Jannis, Steven, Lisa (Don), Daniel, and Junius, Jr.; her granddaughters: Yvonne and Yvette; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Floyd Elliott will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, August 8, 2025 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 11 AM until the funeral hour. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Yadkinville, NC. Public viewing of Mrs. Floyd Elliott will be Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 12PM ~ 6PM at the funeral home.
