Debra J.
Robinson
Sep 29, 1958 — Aug 11, 2018
Ms. Debra Joanne Robinson was born on September 29, 1958 to George Ladell Robinson and Carolyn Lash Robinson in Winston-Salem, NC. She was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools attending North Forsyth High School. She spent many years employed in the textile industry until she became a full-time mother and homemaker following the birth of her daughter.
Ms. Robinson was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized. Debra had a loving and giving spirit. She never met a stranger and that was exhibited by her many friends whom she enjoyed laughing and talking. She loved Rhythm & Blues and Gospel music, watching movies and visiting museums and historical sites. Debra was known for preparing "some of the best soul food you ever tasted!" She kept things neat and clean, especially her children. Debra loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family but was known for being at least 2 hours late to family gatherings, even if she planned the event! Debra was preceded in death this year by her nephew, Ajmal D. Rehman and great aunt, Melinda Lash.
She is survived by her children: Barry A. Robinson and Denea M. Starks; five grandchildren: Iman Alford, Rahim Robinson, and Ta'Ciana Robinson (with whom she spent a great deal of time), Dy'Quan Robinson and Nassir Hassan; a great grandson, Jy'Sen Wright; her parents: Carolyn Robinson and George (Shirley) Robinson; siblings: Brenda Robinson-Rehman, George L. Robinson, Terry D. Robinson, and Inga Robinson-Riley (Jerry); aunts: Frances Lash Cloud and Nellie Conrad-Jacobs; uncle, Jessie Conrad; nieces and nephews: Nakisha L. Robinson, Artanda A. Robinson, Tiffany Robinson, Tameka Pate-Pickett, Tiana Robinson, Brandi Stephenson, George "Lil Butch" Robinson, and Tim Robinson, and a host of loving great nieces, great nephews and cousins; a very special friend, Juanita McCormick.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment in Bethania AME Zion Church cemetery.
