Obituary

Mr. David Britton, Jr. lovingly known as "Butch," of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away on September 30, 2026 at the age of 57, after a hard and courageous fight with cancer.

Butch was a jokester with at heart for helping people and a gift for making them laugh. He lived with great joy, finding far more reasons to be happy than to be sad and angry. He wanted to bring a smile to someone's face and offer a helping hand when it was needed. His personality was bigger than life.

Even throughout his illness, Butch continued to make others smile and laugh. He faced his sickness with bravery and his own unmistakable determination, saying "I'mma ride it til' the wheel fall off." And that is exactly what he did. Cancer was part of his final chapter, but so were his courage, his humor, and the joy he continued to share.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Dawkins. Following cremation, his ashes will be laid to rest beside her at Evergreen Cemetery.

Family meant more than a name or a family tree to Butch. He built a family through love, friendship, and the people he held close.
