Mr. Darrell Lionell Howell was born on April 21, 1959 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Betty Howell Dean and departed this earthly life on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

Darrell matriculated through the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and was Baptist by faith.

During his career he worked in manufacturing and food services. His love was for his family, cooking, laughing, dancing, singing and watching his favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Dean.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Olivia D. Smith Howell; children: Romaro Jackson, Devarus Howell and Olivia Howell; father, John Dean; grandchildren, Dionah, Dnaria, Patrick, Dareen, Myasia, Jamirah, Tayonna and Khanijah; great grandchild, Chase; sisters: Cheryl Jackson, Joya Hardy and Pamela Lindsay; faithful fur baby of 10 years, Ivy; special nieces: Chemika Richardson and Brittany (Kendra) Berry; special nephew, Sam Richardson; aunts: Shirley Gibbs, Cynthia Howell and Yvette Mullett; uncle, Michael Howell; brothers­-in-law: Aldeen (Paulette) Smith and Oscar Smith; special friends, Curtis Miller and Kenneth Jones; other relatives and many friends.

The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home located at 727 Patterson Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC. Family visitation will begin at 12:30 PM with the service following at 1:00 PM. A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home.
