Mr. Charles Gray Payne, Jr. was born April 21, 1947 to Elizabeth W. Payne and Charles Gray Payne, Sr. He was called to glory on September 23, 2020 at the age of 73.

Charles was an alumna of Paisley High School, where he served as drum major. He was a long time member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Payne.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: a son, Israel Lamont Hampton of South Carolina; one sister, Veronica L. Payne; one niece, Kindra Y. Payne; four nephews: Patrick L. Payne, Brandon D. Payne, Dustin J. Payne, and Terrance R. (ArTiffany) Payne of Gilbert, AZ; a uncle, Sandy Payne and a devoted significant other, Patricia Little; a host of other relatives and friends.

A private funeral service will be held for Mr. Payne. There will be a public viewing from 12:00 PM ~ 5:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Interment in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
