Caroline Oswald
Tisdell
d. Dec 3, 2019
Caroline Elizabeth Oswald Tisdell, affectionately known as (T-Caro, Small Ma, Grand Ma, Mama, Teacher Caroline) was born to the Late Hermann Augustus Oswald and the Late Sophronia Beatrice King Howard in the then township of Marshall, now Marshall City, Margibi County, Liberia, West Africa. She was the only child of the union. She accepted the Lord at a very early age and spent her life serving the Lord. At age 18, T-Caro moved to Paynesville and joined the Martha Tubman United Methodist Church where she remained and served faithfully until her departure to the United States of America in 1995. She was one of the few that joined with their pastor, the Late William Ross and hauled sand and cement, and worked assiduously to help change the structure from zinc round to semi-concrete.
Mother Caroline remained faithful regardless of who the Bishop assigned to the church as Pastor. She always expressed that her service and faith was not to man but to the God who created her in His own image and likeness, and in the Beauty of Hiss Holiness.
Precious to her heart was serving as the sexton of the church, and choir member even if she had to be the loner to sing that Sunday. She will not hesitate to "put on her gown" and sing with majesty and power like Heaven was coming down.
Mother Tisdell was very instrumental in the formation of several ministries/departments in the church.
She was a staunch encourager to the women of Tubman UMC that motivated them joining the Monrovia District Conference in 1968. Her service to the Monrovia District brought her an honor as District Mother 1991-1992 under the leadership of the Late Mary N. Bedell.
Mother Tisdell leaves to bemoan her children, Beatrice Seton Martin (Clarence), Gertrude Minor Nwaobi (Joe), Charlie Tisdell, Jr., and Oretha Tisdell. Twenty-Seven Grand-children, Fifty-Four Great-grandchildren and Thirteen Great Great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends in USA, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and United Kingdom.
Small Ma was predeceased by her Husband, Charlie Tisdell, her Father, Hermann Augustus Oswald, her Mother Sophronia Beatrice King Howard; six children: Hermann Minor, Frances Minor, Georgia Outland, Buster Flood (Margaret), Ivan Outland and Alfred Outland.
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 2019, at the Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center, Winston-Salem, NC, the Master and Maker called one more name for a Mansion in Glory, and Caroline Elizabeth Oswald Tisdell answered the call.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment in Piedmont Memorial Gardens
